Planning Ahead is a community-centered nonprofit grounded in fairness, service, and shared power. We believe that the people most impacted by climate risks are best positioned to lead the solutions. Working statewide with deep local partnerships, we center lived experience, co-create programs with communities, and support residents as leaders shaping resilient, healthy, and equitable futures.

Planning Ahead advances environmental justice across North Carolina by partnering with communities most impacted by climate challenges to deliver place-based environmental education, workforce development, and community-led resilience planning. Our programs transform learning into action—supporting residents to protect their health, strengthen economic opportunity, and lead locally rooted climate solutions.
