Who We Are
The West End Community Foundation, Inc. has a mission to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the West End Community, as well as the City of Durham, through education, community development, healthcare, job training and human enrichment.
We offer free after school services to Kindergarten through 6th grade students.
We will be in need of tutors from last week in August through second week in June, and welcome your assistance.
What We Do
CommUNITY Scholars After School Program is one of the initiatives of the West End Community Foundation, Inc. and offers free after school services to 30 students.
The CommUNITY Scholars After School Program cultivates the ‘whole’ child by addressing the needs of kindergarten through sixth grade students who reside or attend schools in the West End Community. Many of our students are on free or reduced lunch. We strive to keep the children safe and supervised as they participate in academic, enrichment and physical activities. Since many students arrive hungry, nutritional snacks and /or meals are provided. We also provide counseling, as needed, for the students. We provide one-on-one tutoring to our students, assist them with projects, enrichment activities, field trips and school supplies.
If you would like to volunteer to tutor please contact me. We would love your help.
