Read-Onomics will recruit and train male college students and professional men to act as
reading mentors for minority males. Reading Mentors will virtually meet with their
mentee 2-3 times per week for 20-35 minutes. The mentee will read aloud to their
mentor, and then the two will then discuss the book or books read.
Mission:
The mission is to increase reading comprehension levels and non-cognitive development
for minority males between or K-8.
Goals:
The goal is to correlate reading to education development that develops positive character
qualities in young men. This program aims to teach young men financial literacy, career
readiness, emotional coping mechanisms, and improvement of academic goals.
