Volunteer: URGENT: StrongHER TogetHER DriverOne of the biggest obstacles to participation in activities outside of school for many youth is transportation. To address this for our participants, the StrongHER TogetHER Driver Pool assists youth with transportation needs to our program's activities and/or extracurricular learning activities that are funded through our program. We typically try to maintain a pool of about five drivers. When opportunities arise to assist the students, we send out a group text with the details to see who is available to help. Priority is given to drivers who have been licensed for 3+ years. Drivers in the pool must complete a background check, a DMV check, and provide proof of a valid license and insurance information. This is a paid position with a time commitment of ~6-10 hours per month. All group leaders must complete a background check, participate in the Stewards of Light online training, and review and sign a Child Safety Policy form. Position available as current leaders rotate off. Time commitment: Every 4-6 weeks on weekends. Access to a car will make this volunteer opportunity easier. The program supports various activities including sports, STEM, camps, lessons, SAT/ACT test preparation and so more! Check out more information on our (2) five month sessions here!
Mentors work 1:1 with mentors, helping them find suitable activities and supporting them with extracurricular learning goals and post-graduation planning. Time commitment: 3-5 hours per month. The next VillageHERs session begins August 2024 and runs through Dec 2024. We hope to have Mentors in place by July 1st for this session. If you are interested in mentoring during the fall semester, this opportunity may be a fit for you!
