Bridges Pointe, Inc is seeking a Administrative Assistant who will perform a variety of tasks depending on specific projects and deadlines. Office tasks will be assigned by the director and office personnel. Your work efforts will better assist and direct the needs of the clients we serve while respecting and maintaining the confidentiality of clients, volunteers, partners, and donors.

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable college student volunteers to assist our organization with participating in the Women’s Health Awareness (WHA) Conference 2026, a community-centered event focused on improving women’s health through education, screenings, and engagement. The WHA Community Engagement Program is an innovative environmental health research, public health practice, and advocacy initiative. Volunteers will support our organization as we serve as a panel participant and host an informational table during the conference.

Ranch Chores is an essential part of what happens at Hope Reins. We work together to maintain a clean, beautiful, and safe area for the kids in our program. During Ranch Chores we typically participate in activities like the ones listed below: 

Invasive plant species removal in pastures - helps keep our pastures healthy and nutrition-rich for the horses

Fence staining - with miles of four board fence, it's an ongoing process!

Trail construction - our kids love to walk the trails with their mentors during sessions

Clearing fence lines - from downed limbs, brush and debris

Weeding and gardening - to ensure the Ranch is beautiful for our sessions kids

Hope Reins is a 501c3 nonprofit and one of the country’s leading faith-based equine mentorship programs. We serve kids, aged 5-18, who are experiencing life-threatening trauma at our 38-acre ranch, where they are paired with a trusted mentor and a rescued horse for a series of 90-minute sessions over a 3-year period. This journey leads to resilience and coping skills that can last a lifetime. All services are offered at no cost to kids and their families.

We have monthly co-ops on the third Thursday of every month where we provide fresh produce, meat and dried goods to the public. It is 100% free for anyone to come and pick up food. You will be helping with distribution. Distribution will consist of helping at the stations for people to take what they need.

This fundraising event invites guests to become paleontologists! Volunteers are needed to help hide eggs, engage with visitors at different activity stations, and monitor games and other activities. We are looking for volunteers to help us prepare for our biggest event of the year! On every Tuesday between now and mid May, from 5:30 to 7:30pm, come to Liberty Arts to participate in Iron Breaking.

Liberty Arts' 10th Annual Iron Pour is coming up on November 14th, 2026. In order to run an Iron Pour, our organization needs dozens of buckets of potato-chip-sized pieces of iron. We receive larger pieces of iron through donations (radiators, bathtubs, etc.) and these need to be broken down into small pieces. These small pieces of iron will be melted and poured, creating iron sculptures during our 10th Annual Iron Pour.

This volunteer opportunity is a physical activity. You'll be smashing metal scrap using sledgehammers! We provide safety gear (glasses, face shields, and shoe coverings), but YOU MUST wear denim pants and closed-toe shoes/boots. 

This opportunity is a great stress reliever. Take out some of your frustrations and support the arts all at once!

Our Resource Center provides essential services including a clothing pantry, food assistance, and hygiene supplies to families in need. Volunteers play a key role in helping us keep this space welcoming, organized, and well-stocked.

Volunteers are needed to assist school staff with carpool drop-off and pick-up.  Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time in outside elements.  Duties include greeting students and parents, opening and shutting car doors, ensuring that students enter the building safely and cars exit the parking lot safely.

Join us for Mane Monday Club Days at Fayetteville Street Elementary School, held on the 4th Monday of each month! Upcoming dates are March 23rd and April 27th, with clubs taking place from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. This time includes student engagement during club rotations as well as clean-up to help keep our school community strong and organized.

CEF is a local nonprofit with offices in Durham and Chapel Hill that creates a community of support to address issues long-term that are related to economic justice, housing insecurity, and homelessness. CEF connects volunteer advocates and interns with community Members to work towards Members' goals, such as gaining housing, employment, and understanding savings. Members and advocates work together to navigate the barriers to reaching those goals, while also working toward systems-level changes, guided by Members' lived experiences of the complex social services landscapes of Durham and Orange Counties. About the Internship

CEF Summer internships offer the opportunity for full-time and part-time interns to deepen their commitment to the Durham community. They will be challenged to broaden their knowledge around community resources, programs, and antiracism work, as well as challenge their skills as an advocate while working alongside folks experiencing housing and financial insecurity. All interns MUST be able to attend each part of the internship, including the training.

Full-time Summer interns work with CEF in a full-time capacity for 10 weeks over the Summer. Interns will spend roughly 24 hours per week supporting Members as advocates and working collaboratively with staff on projects that match our organization’s needs as well as your own interests, skills, and passion areas. This is a paid opportunity with a rate of $15.50/hour. Part-time Summer interns will spend roughly 8-10 hours per week completing the same tasks outlined above, with a primary focus on meetings with Members (this is an unpaid opportunity).

Families Moving Forward's annual Rock the Block Day of Service will be on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 from 8:00AM- 12:00PM. Rock the Block is our largest facility service event of the year. Volunteers will be completing a variety of projects including mulching and general landscaping, deep-cleaning community areas in the programming and residential buildings and a few light painting projects. CANDOR Farm supports the West End Free Market, by growing foods that reflect and respect local preferences, ensuring that fresh, culturally relevant produce is available at market. This also strengthens the market’s ability to sustain itself over time. This cycle of care and collaboration dismantles traditional hierarchies of food access, replacing them with a framework of shared abundance.

Please wear long pants and sleeves. Bring water, sun protection and anything else to make yourself comfortable. We'll come together to make friends, pull weeds and our priority will be harvesting and processing goods for West End Free Market the next day.

DCSL is looking for motivated and hard-working volunteers to help transform our common spaces into a beautiful setting for our Annual Gala Fundraiser!

Bull City B.E.S.T. is looking for volunteers to support elementary students as they prepare for their End-of-Grade (EOG) math assessments. Welcome to Purpose Learning Lab Literacy Program,

The reading buddies program allows older students the opportunity to develop fluency as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments. In addition, they often come to see the value of reading. Students can not only promote good practices but gain self-esteem. Repeatedly reading easier books has been shown to improve reading abilities in poor readers, and this program provides students with a reason to read easier books.

Reading to younger students can help them develop a love of reading and a greater motivation to read. Younger students should also read to their older buddies each week, as this allows younger readers to feel a sense of accomplishment while they build fluency. Because the program provides success in literacy, students often become more positive about their ability to read and may also improve their reading skills. Ideally, buddy visits will be ongoing, and older and younger students will become familiar with one another and nurture a mutual interest in reading.

The Durham Center for Senior Life (DCSL) is looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping support our Tuesday morning tech program at our new location at 4900 N. Roxboro Street in Durham. From 9am-11am we run "Just Ask George" a one-on-one tech support program where center members can drop in to get help with their phones, email, setting up accounts online, and more. 

For this role, we are looking for volunteers who would shadow George and help provide one-on-one tech support. Most of the questions members come with are on the basic technology side, such as how to attach photos to a text, how to manage social media, how to download a document from an email, etc. You are welcome to bring your phone and laptop for demonstrations, or to look up information.

This is a great opportunity to help older adults become more tech savvy and independent while working with a fun and interesting group of people!

This volunteer will be stationed at our reception and/or welcome desk to welcome participants to our center, direct them to programming, and answer phones to take messages during out slower evening hours from 5-7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will provide a tour and training so volunteers can be comfortable and confident when working with members. Ideally, volunteers will be able to commit to multiple shifts. 

NCCU students collect and deliver toys for the students at Hope Valley Elementary School

Join us in spreading care and support through our We Care Service Project! Volunteers can earn service hours by helping assemble and distribute our monthly care bags for families in need at Fayetteville Street Elementary School.

Swim for Charlie will be hosting a masters (swimmers ages 18-90) swim meet Sunday morning April 12th at the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough, NC a 20 minute drive from the NCCU campus.

The meet is scheduled to start at 8:50 and timers are asked to get to the pool by 8:15 for an orientation.  

To run the meet Swim for Charlie will need 20 timers. 

Timers have 2 responsibilities: 1) make sure the right swimmer is in the right event, the right heat, and the right lane and 2) provide accurate backup times for every swim. 

A timer will be assigned to a lane and each lane will have a clipboard with a sheet of paper with the names of the swimmers for that lane with space to record the time for the swimmer. 

Timers are given a stopwatch to use at the meet.  The stopwatch is started when the starting beep sounds and is stopped when the swimmer touches the wall at the end of the swim.  Timers will then record the time on the sheet on the clipboard.

There are 2 timers for each lane.  There are chairs for the timers at each lane. 

Timers will be given a Swim for Charlie tee shirt and will be provided hospitality snacks/drinks throughout the meet. 

Instructors will teach 2nd grade Durham Public School students basic water safety and swimming skills.  Each 2nd grade student has 8 lessons over a 2-week period.  Instructors are given a detailed handbook and go through a training session.  Laminated teaching aids are available poolside during the lessons.  Instructor requirements are the ability to do a front to back float, a basic (elementary) backstroke, front crawl (freestyle) stroke, and tread water.  Instructors should have a desire to teach elementary school children, be patient and kind.  Instructors will need to complete a free online Durham Public Schools background check.  This is a very rewarding experience for both the 2nd grade students and the instructors.

 COMPLIMENTARY FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS AT HOMESTEAD PARK

DCSL is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our upcoming Phone-a-Thon supporting the Young at Heart Gala. Volunteers will use a provided call sheet and script to contact local businesses and invite them to support DCSL. Shifts are available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.. Volunteers should be comfortable speaking with business representatives, professional on the phone, and confident reading from a script. For those who are stronger with email outreach, there is also a remote volunteer opportunity available.

FSE Club Days are monthly enrichment days designed to provide students with engaging, hands-on experiences outside of their regular classroom routine. These days allow students to explore creative, physical, and collaborative activities in a structed and supportive environment led by our mentors and volunteers.

Durham Public Schools Volunteer Registration

Swim Instructors will teach 2nd grade Durham Public School students basic water safety and swimming skills.  Each 2nd grade student has 8 lessons over a 2-week period.  Instructors are given a detailed handbook and go through a training session.  Laminated teaching aids are available poolside during the lessons.  Instructor requirements are the ability to do a front to back float, a basic (elementary) backstroke, front crawl (freestyle) stroke, and tread water.  Instructors should have a desire to teach elementary school children, be patient and kind.  Instructors will need to complete a free online Durham Public Schools background check.  This is a very rewarding experience for both the 2nd grade students and the instructors.

This program offers the opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and experiences learned through their non-paid experiential learning experiences.

W.G. Pearson Magnet Elementary School is excited to invite NCCU students to participate in a math tutoring partnership supporting 4th and 5th grade students during the spring semester.

This opportunity is ideal for students interested in education, mathematics, psychology, social work, public service, or community engagement, and for those seeking service hours, field experience, work-study hours, or meaningful volunteer experience.

What You’ll Do:
Tutor small groups (1–3 students) in grades 4–5 math
Support skills such as number sense, fractions, problem-solving, and math confidence
Follow teacher-provided focus areas (“work-ons”) — no lesson planning required
Build positive relationships with elementary students in a supportive school setting
