DURHAM NC 2025 Hayti Legacy Kwanzaa Volunteers

We’re excited to celebrate Kwanzaa at the Hayti Heritage Center, and we’re calling on our NCCU community to help make this year’s event a beautiful success! Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles and time slots to support setup, greeter, usher, breakdown, and more.

December 23 2025 Pre Event
We need helping hands to prepare the space at the Hayti Heritage Center including an interactive escape room for teens. In addition we need helping hands with arranging seating, decorating, organizing materials, and making sure everything is ready for our community.

Event Day Volunteers – December 26th (10:00 AM–8:30 PM)
On the day of the celebration, volunteers are needed throughout the event in 2-hour shifts with 2 hours on, 2 hours off. Feel free to sign up for one shift or several—your energy and presence make all the difference. While volunteering, we encourage you to enjoy the festivities, connect with the community, and immerse yourself in the spirit of Kwanzaa!

As we get closer to the date we will hold a virtual orientation to go over details and specific roles.

**Volunteer Opportunity: B.U.M.P: The Triangle**

**Description:**
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to support BUMP in various capacities. Your involvement will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our weekly programming.

**Volunteer Roles:**

**Taking Attendance:**
- Responsibilities include managing attendee lists, checking in participants, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Ideal volunteers are organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable using basic attendance tracking tools. **Classroom Monitoring:**
- Volunteers will assist in maintaining a positive and focused environment during class(es).
- Duties may include helping participants, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a smooth flow of the session.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle diverse groups are desirable. **Setup Help:**
- Volunteers will contribute to the setup and arrangement of event materials, equipment, and seating arrangements.
- Physical fitness and a proactive attitude are essential for this role.

**Requirements:**
- Reliable and punctual individuals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not mandatory.

**Time Commitment:**

General Time: 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM

You will be specifically assigned to class(es) once you arrive, unless you specify a particular class you would like to be placed in.
