Volunteer: "Light the City"- Powered by First Calvary Baptist Church

For over 140 years, First Calvary Baptist Church has stood as a beacon of light for the greater Durham community. We believe serving is our priority and is central to our vision to be a light for the city.

Light the City will be a day of radical generosity and community empowerment. Our goal is to have 500 volunteers to serve over 3,000 Durham residents.

Register to volunteer here and slect your time slot through the NCCU Light the City SignUp Genius. There are five volunteer options with varying time slots. As a volunteer, you will receive a Light the City tee shirt and Chick-Fil-A boxed lunch.

Event Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026

Event Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Time Slots: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Location: Durham County Memorial Stadium

750 Stadium Drive, Durham, North Carolina

Yes, there will be two options for in-person training sessions.

Sunday, August 2 @ 12:30 pm (immediately after the 11 am service)

o First Calvary Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall. 1311 Morehead Avenue, Durham NC 27707

o Training will include general overview and specific volunteer station (option) training

or

Thursday, August 13 @ 6 pm

o Durham County Memorial Stadium. 750 Stadium Drive. Durham NC 27704

o Walkthrough each station with explanations of crowd control/flow & recap of station training
