Volunteer: Ranch Chores Service Group (March)

Ranch Chores is an essential part of what happens at Hope Reins. We work together to maintain a clean, beautiful, and safe area for the kids in our program. During Ranch Chores we typically participate in activities like the ones listed below:

Invasive plant species removal in pastures - helps keep our pastures healthy and nutrition-rich for the horses

Fence staining - with miles of four board fence, it's an ongoing process!

Trail construction - our kids love to walk the trails with their mentors during sessions

Clearing fence lines - from downed limbs, brush and debris

Weeding and gardening - to ensure the Ranch is beautiful for our sessions kids

Hope Reins is a 501c3 nonprofit and one of the country’s leading faith-based equine mentorship programs. We serve kids, aged 5-18, who are experiencing life-threatening trauma at our 38-acre ranch, where they are paired with a trusted mentor and a rescued horse for a series of 90-minute sessions over a 3-year period. This journey leads to resilience and coping skills that can last a lifetime. All services are offered at no cost to kids and their families.

Volunteer: Afternoon Reading Club FALL 2025-2026- Help Us Change the World!!!!

Welcome to Purpose Learning Lab Literacy Program,

The reading buddies program allows older students the opportunity to develop fluency as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments. In addition, they often come to see the value of reading. Students can not only promote good practices but gain self-esteem. Repeatedly reading easier books has been shown to improve reading abilities in poor readers, and this program provides students with a reason to read easier books.

Reading to younger students can help them develop a love of reading and a greater motivation to read. Younger students should also read to their older buddies each week, as this allows younger readers to feel a sense of accomplishment while they build fluency. Because the program provides success in literacy, students often become more positive about their ability to read and may also improve their reading skills. Ideally, buddy visits will be ongoing, and older and younger students will become familiar with one another and nurture a mutual interest in reading.

Volunteer: Afterschool Self-Esteem & Life-skills Workshop Facilitator: Ignite self-love

Greetings Life Changer,

Do you have what it takes to uplift and empower teens to elevate their esteem, make good decisions, and obtain leadership skills? If so, we are looking for positive role models to impact the hearts of youth who are enrolled in our afterschool program?

Are you looking for an environment to cultivate your skills as an emerging clinician in the field of social work and/or Mental Health? If so, Purpose Learning Lab , Inc is the place for you to tap into your inner community & behavioral health skills. We just launched our second licensed Mental Health Office "The Empress Haven, PLLC" in Durham , NC and we would love to have you a part of our internship team as my passion is to provide education, guidance, and support to emerging scholars who are passionate about this field.

This program offers the opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and experiences learned through their non-paid experiential learning experiences.

We invite you to help us change the world as we provide Mental Health Services to underserved and rural Communities where care can be the most scarce.

Please email Mya @purposelearninglab@gmail.com for more information.

Volunteer: Ranch Chores Service Group

Volunteer: Administrative Survey Assistant

The Durham Center for Senior Life is looking for detail-oriented volunteers to help organize and tabulate data from our annual surveys. This data includes information on program attendance and satisfaction and allows us to better serve our older adult's needs and interests, and additionally provides information that we can use for to fundraise.

Your role will include tallying responses and keeping our survey response Excel Sheet records up to date. The shift times are flexible, and after one or two training shifts on site, much of this work can be completed from the comfort of your own home! Ideally, volunteers will be able to provide a few hours of time each week for this project, for up to a month with opportunities for alternative and additional projects if interested. Please reach out to Elena Shapiro-Albert (DCSL Program & Volunteer Coordinator) at eshapiro-albert@dcslnc.org with any questions.

Volunteer: Technology Assistant Teacher - Tuesday Mornings

The Durham Center for Senior Life (DCSL) is looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping support our Thursday morning tech programming. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-11am we run "Just Ask George" a one-on-one tech support program where DCSL members can drop in to get help with their phones, email, setting up accounts online, and more.

For this role, we are looking for volunteers who would shadow George and help provide one-on-one tech support. Most of the questions members come with are on the basic technology side, such as how to attach photos to a text, how to manage social media, how to download a document from an email, etc. We have over 10 desktop computers connected to ethernet that you can use with the members to demonstrate things or for you to look up information that would help you answer member questions, so you do not need to provide any materials. This is a great opportunity to help older adults become more tech savvy and independent while working with a fun and interesting group of people.

After completing one assistant shift, interested volunteers are welcome to work with the programs team to design and run run their own special tech presentations on topics such as Google storage, A.I. , Social Media, streaming services, etc..

Volunteer: CANDOR Farm Community Workday - Saturdays

CANDOR Farm supports the West End Free Market, by growing foods that reflect and respect local preferences, ensuring that fresh, culturally relevant produce is available at market. This also strengthens the market’s ability to sustain itself over time. This cycle of care and collaboration dismantles traditional hierarchies of food access, replacing them with a framework of shared abundance.

Please wear long pants and sleeves. Bring water, sun protection and anything else to make yourself comfortable. We'll come together to make friends, pull weeds and plant the seeds that will nourish our community for months to come.

We do not have onsite access to a bathroom. Foster's market closes at 3pm, there is a gas station across the street and CANDOR's building is at Part and Parcel about a mile drive away.

Volunteer: Mentor-Tutor for Middle Schoolers (in Raleigh, NC)

Grow Your World is seeking volunteers to provide mentorship and tutoring in school at River Oaks and Connections Academy in Raleigh, NC. Volunteers will be placed with an individual or a group of students focused on a specific need (specific subject matter TBD by your capacity and existing needs) and will serve under the direction of a teacher. Mentor-tutoring slots are available Monday-Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., and volunteers can sign up for one or multiple weekly slots. An orientation and ongoing support will be provided. Volunteers who are interested in deepening their impact may have opportunities to mentor individual students and/or extend their volunteership through our other programs (e.g. after school, mentorship in other districts)
Skills/Qualities: Love of middle school:  We are especially looking for volunteers who truly enjoy middle schoolers and delight in seeing them grow. Behavior support: Youth will likely be those who do not love school. Comfort meeting children where they are to support their behavioral and emotional needs is paramount. Relationship skills: Learning is most powerful when there is a connection. We'd love to have volunteers who will take the time to get to know our students.Communication skills: We need volunteers who can explain concepts and skills clearly and who can listen deeply to understand where a student needs support. Several of our students are multilingual learners (MLLs), and so being able to adjust your vocabulary to better meet students' needs is especially helpful.Dependability: We expect volunteers to arrive on time each week. Our students and teachers are counting on you!

A background check will be supplied and required by Grow Your World and Wake Co. Schools before you are able to begin this position.
