We are in need of someone to meticulously document the pageant's highlights, from the contestants' poised walks to the joyful reactions of winners. Their work needs to showcase the sophistication and community spirit of the event, ensuring that every memorable moment—from behind-the-scenes preparation to the crowning ceremony—was immortalized in stunning detail.

The Political Science Department is seeking dedicated volunteers to support various initiatives and activities that enhance student learning and engagement. Ship Outreach Center in Raleigh is in need of volunteers for Homework Club at Ship Leadership Academy.

The Homework Club provides free tutoring for school-aged children grades 1-12. Volunteers help students with various subjects, homework assignments, and test preparation.

Call our seniors in Durham. You can call from anyplace you have access to the internet and a computer.

Calls are made on Wednesdays and/or Fridays from your remote location. You will receive that day's "Wellness Sheet" via email at 8am. Calls can be made between 9am and noon. Each route averages 60 minutes (10-14 clients). Sign up for up to 3 routes per day.

This is a more labor intensive volunteer opportunity that will replace your gym session for the day! This position requires determination and strong communication skills to work with a highly diverse group of people!

Deliver hot meals to seniors in Durham. We have delivery routes throughout Durham county. You can deliver by yourself, with a friend, with your pet, or with a group.

Available Monday to Friday. Arrive to MOWD facilities (2522 Ross Rd Durham) to pick up meals between 9:30 am - 10:30 am and allow 1.5 - 2 hours for delivery. Volunteers can get scheduled to come once a week, once a month, or as often as they would like. Must use or have access to a vehicle and gas to make deliveries. Must also be able to download and use our Mobile Meals app to navigate your routes.

This individual will be a self-starter, able to work independently and in teams.  This individual is creative and able to "run" in a non-traditional setting.  This individual will question the norm or past processes, they are able to keep and create records.  

The Technician Assistant (TA) program at the Duke Lemur Center began in 2008 and is designed to give students and the public an opportunity to volunteer their time and be involved in the husbandry of lemurs. TAs assist full-time Primate Technicians with a variety of animal care tasks, including diet preparation, cleaning of animal areas, development of enrichment, behavioral observations, and daily upkeep of the facility. Our TA volunteers are an invaluable resource for the center and include undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as professional and retired members of the community.

Requirements to become a Technician Assistant:

Commitment to work one 4-hour shift each week for a minimum of 6 months
Results of TB test that has been administered within a year of start date
Proof of MMR Vaccine
Proof of current health insurance
Age 18 or above

ProjectSAFE volunteers will participate in ongoing testing events, education, and other activities related to helping students understand and be proactive about their sexual health.

Volunteers will assist with similar organizations in their pursuit of expanding education and STI/HIV testing, awareness, and education for community members and grant opportunities related to sexual health. 

Additionally, volunteers will distribute condoms campus wide to help support our grant and increase access to condoms for our students.

Note: In order to earn ProjectSAFE community service hours, students must complete ProjectSAFE training, HIPPA training, and successfully pass the quiz. If you have not done the abovementioned items, your service hour submission(s) will be denied.

The Blood Transportation Specialist position is a rewarding opportunity to deliver lifesaving blood product to the patients that need it. Volunteers will pick-up a Red Cross vehicle from the Durham Red Cross Lab at the beginning of their scheduled shift, and pick-up or deliver blood products, to and from our collection sites, to our lab and area hospitals.

Liberty Hospice provides quality care and comfort to our clients and their families in a critical time of their lives. We are currently seeking patient/family volunteers to assist in providing care and understanding to the patient and family, make visits at regular intervals as per plan of care, and maintain confidentiality. Our patients reside at home and facilities throughout the Triangle Area.  We cover counties such as Wake, Durham, Vance, Granville, Person, and surrounding areas. The ideal volunteer would have good listening and communication skills, have respect for the hospice philosophy, and be willing to work as a team member. Provide Administrative support to the Executive Director of Leaders for Tomorrow, Youth arm of the National Black MBA Association.

Administrative support is setting up and sending out communication for the youth, parents and volunteers.  

Preparing Agendas, powerpoints and materials for the 2nd Saturday of the month meetings. 

Updating databases and sending out timely communication of the updates to the Board, youth, parents and/or volunteers.

We are looking for students to help volunteer for our k-8th afterschool program.

Task is to manage the parking situation during the jummah prayers.

There are 4 shifts, sometimes 3 that occur every friday.

Your task will be to give guidance to those coming to the mosque by pointing them in the direction where there are availible parking spots.

Event Planner Roles 

Event planners develop, plan, and execute a variety of both internal and external events. They oversee all aspects of event planning and management, including identifying and working with a variety of external venues/facilities, negotiating contracts with vendors, and maintaining and managing event budgets. Event planners often manage all logistics on-site, which leads them to work long and non-traditional hours.

Additionally, the best event planners have strong organizational, budgeting, and time management skills.

We are looking for a hard-working outreach coordinator to join our organization. The outreach coordinator's responsibilities include data collection and analysis, representing our organization at trade fairs, organizing media events, fundraising, and coordinating volunteer activities.

To be a successful outreach coordinator, you should have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. You should also be skilled in the use of institutional databases and research methods, as well as in handling administrative duties.

Students will give lab tours, demonstrations, educational lab cleanup and lab safety trainings for early college students. For more information information or questions contact Netanya Dennis ndennis2@eagles.nccu.edu.

Event programming for the LGBTA Resource Center throughout the semester.  During these hours you will develop, coordinate and facilitate programming for the LGBTA Resource Center.

The Office of Community Engagement and Service (OCES) is now accepting work-study and volunteers registrations for the American Reads Program that supports Durham Public Schools.

Students will mentor/tutor K-3rd graders.

When registering please indicate next to your last name place "V" for volunteer or "W" for work-study.  If both, place "VW" next to your last name. 

Must complete a criminal background check application with Durham Public Schools under Volunteer by visiting their website.

Upon registration, an email response will be sent to you to complete an America Read application that will be reviewed to set up an interview.  The student is required to complete and submit a background check through the Durham Public Schools volunteer link: https://www.dpsnc.net/domain/133.

Your start date will depend on background clearance.

The goal is to have every child read on grade level by the end of the third grade. The America Read Program currently serves six Durham Public Schools surrounding the university, referred to as the “Eagle Village” schools.  America READS tutors serve at least 8–10 hours a week at local elementary schools, working individually with children in reading and language arts under the supervision of a teacher.

This program offers the opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and experiences learned through their non-paid experiential learning experiences. CIP is open to students in all majors and departments, currently enrolled at NCCU, who meet the eligibility requirements.  Students earn a professional development certificate that certifies that they have completed the program and are awarded community engagement hours through the Office of Community Engagement and Service based on the number of total hours earned.  This program does not provide academic credit.

Volunteers will assist students in our Boys & Girls Club with homework. The students are split into groups based on age. The program is from Kindergarten - Fifth Grade. Volunteers do not have to stay the entire 1.5 hours

Students in our 3rd - 8th grades need you! We are looking for volunteers who can commit to coming at least once a week, to help with students that are performing below level. All tutoring work and resources will be provided. Students are very friendly and willing to learn. We need tutors in Math OR Reading.  We are hoping for a volunteer who can make a connection with the student. 

We need assistance preparing for the end-of-grade test. If you can be consistent, even with coming 1 day a week, we are in need of your help.

The Athletic Department is slowly transitioning back into sports.  You will be working very closely with the coaches and the AD to follow the COVID health and safety guidelines. 

Sports happen after school hours and games are at various locations.

We need volunteers for cheerleading practice and game day. 

Also, volunteers for girls and boys basketball practice and game day. (Having your own transportation will be beneficial) 

PE classes happens during the day: You will assisting the PE teacher with her class during the scheduled elective class. If you volunteer, please pick a day and time you can be consistent in coming. 

9:30 am - 10:30 am (K or 1st grades)

10:35 am - 11:35 am (2nd or 3rd grades)

12:4 pm - 1:40 pm (4th-6th grades)

1:45 pm - 2:45 pm (7th - 8th grades)

Students in this role help the classroom teacher with any classroom activities for students, making copies, reading and/or completing small tasks with groups of students.
