Ship Outreach Center in Raleigh is in need of volunteers for Homework Club at Ship Leadership Academy.

The Homework Club provides free tutoring for school-aged children grades 1-12. Volunteers help students with various subjects, homework assignments, and test preparation.

Calls are made on Wednesdays and/or Fridays from your remote location. You will receive that day's "Wellness Sheet" via email at 8am. Calls can be made between 9am and noon. Each route averages 60 minutes (10-14 clients). Sign up for up to 3 routes per day.

Unloaders work together to unload the vehicle in a timely, safe and fun manner. While boxes are being unloaded, unloaders continue to work together to stage boxes for the day’s delivery. This is a more labor intensive volunteer opportunity that will replace your gym session for the day! This position requires determination and strong communication skills to work with a highly diverse group of people!

Deliver hot meals to seniors in Durham. We have delivery routes throughout Durham county. You can deliver by yourself, with a friend, with your pet, or with a group.

Available Monday to Friday. Arrive to MOWD facilities (2522 Ross Rd Durham) to pick up meals between 9:30 am - 10:30 am and allow 1.5 - 2 hours for delivery. Volunteers can get scheduled to come once a week, once a month, or as often as they would like. Must use or have access to a vehicle and gas to make deliveries. Must also be able to download and use our Mobile Meals app to navigate your routes.

This individual will be a self-starter, able to work independently and in teams.  This individual is creative and able to "run" in a non-traditional setting.  This individual will question the norm or past processes, they are able to keep and create records.  

The Technician Assistant (TA) program at the Duke Lemur Center began in 2008 and is designed to give students and the public an opportunity to volunteer their time and be involved in the husbandry of lemurs. TAs assist full-time Primate Technicians with a variety of animal care tasks, including diet preparation, cleaning of animal areas, development of enrichment, behavioral observations, and daily upkeep of the facility. Our TA volunteers are an invaluable resource for the center and include undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as professional and retired members of the community.

Requirements to become a Technician Assistant:

Commitment to work one 4-hour shift each week for a minimum of 6 months
Results of TB test that has been administered within a year of start date
Proof of MMR Vaccine
Proof of current health insurance
Age 18 or above

ProjectSAFE volunteers will participate in ongoing testing events, education, and other activities related to helping students understand and be proactive about their sexual health.

Volunteers will assist with similar organizations in their pursuit of expanding education and STI/HIV testing, awareness, and education for community members and grant opportunities related to sexual health. 

Additionally, volunteers will distribute condoms campus wide to help support our grant and increase access to condoms for our students.

Note: In order to earn ProjectSAFE community service hours, students must complete ProjectSAFE training, HIPPA training, and successfully pass the quiz. If you have not done the abovementioned items, your service hour submission(s) will be denied.

The Blood Transportation Specialist position is a rewarding opportunity to deliver lifesaving blood product to the patients that need it. Administrative support is setting up and sending out communication for the youth, parents and volunteers.

Updating databases and sending out timely communication of the updates to the Board, youth, parents and/or volunteers.

We are looking for students to help volunteer for our k-8th afterschool program.

Task is to manage the parking situation during the jummah prayers.

There are 4 shifts, sometimes 3 that occur every friday.

Your task will be to give guidance to those coming to the mosque by pointing them in the direction where there are availible parking spots.

Event Planner Roles 

Event planners develop, plan, and execute a variety of both internal and external events. They oversee all aspects of event planning and management, including identifying and working with a variety of external venues/facilities, negotiating contracts with vendors, and maintaining and managing event budgets. Event planners often manage all logistics on-site, which leads them to work long and non-traditional hours.

Additionally, the best event planners have strong organizational, budgeting, and time management skills.

We are looking for a hard-working outreach coordinator to join our organization. The outreach coordinator's responsibilities include data collection and analysis, representing our organization at trade fairs, organizing media events, fundraising, and coordinating volunteer activities.

To be a successful outreach coordinator, you should have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. You should also be skilled in the use of institutional databases and research methods, as well as in handling administrative duties.

Students will mentor/tutor K-3rd graders.

The goal is to have every child read on grade level by the end of the third grade. The America Read Program currently serves six Durham Public Schools surrounding the university, referred to as the “Eagle Village” schools.  America READS tutors serve at least 8–10 hours a week at local elementary schools, working individually with children in reading and language arts under the supervision of a teacher.

The Athletic Department is slowly transitioning back into sports.  You will be working very closely with the coaches and the AD to follow the COVID health and safety guidelines.

Seeking volunteers who are excited to tutor K-8 students in core subjects (i.e. Math, Reading, and ELA). 

This organization connects the general public with NCCU scientists and to provides easy access to scientific information related to everyday life and current events. Our goals include building relationships with an audience that otherwise does not have easy access to the scientific community through social media and community events, improving the science communication skills of our student members, and highlighting the accomplishments of NCCU scientists. Service hours are awarded for the developing outreach materials geared toward an audience of non-scientists and engaging in conversation with this audience through social media.

NCCU FAB Lab in partnership with Communities In Schools is looking for students to produce and develop a Collegiate Pathway Video to encourage at-risk students at Communities In Schools to pursue college and professional degrees. This opportunity is for students to share their journey, experience, and growth to the next generation of HBCU students.

Community Public Relations

The student selected will operate as a public relations strategist researching various outreach events hosted by and for the community in regards to entrepreneurship. The student will also be responsible for assisting with public relations with the College of Arts and Sciences Center for Student Success.  The student must have a flexible schedule and have experience in marketing, photography, editing software and public relations. The student will earn an hour per hour during each documented event and editing time will be granted based on an experienced photographer’s/marketing estimations.

Various activities are scheduled for the development of the community garden on land use donated by the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Community canvassing, design charrette (an intensive planning session where citizens, designers and others collaborate on a vision for development. It provides a forum for ideas and offers the unique advantage of giving immediate feedback to the designers. More importantly, it allows everyone who participates to be a mutual author of the plan.), community engagement, and community gardening.
