Volunteer: Volunteer for National Night Out on 10/7/25

We are seeking 10 volunteers (males & females) for the National Night Out event to be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 6:30 PM at Weaver Street Recreation Center 3000 Weaver Street, Durham, NC 27707.

Volunteer: Afternoon Reading Club FALL 2025- Help Us Change the World!!!!

Welcome to Purpose Learning Lab Literacy Program,

The reading buddies program allows older students the opportunity to develop fluency as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments. In addition, they often come to see the value of reading. Students can not only promote good practices but gain self-esteem. Repeatedly reading easier books has been shown to improve reading abilities in poor readers, and this program provides students with a reason to read easier books.

Reading to younger students can help them develop a love of reading and a greater motivation to read. Younger students should also read to their older buddies each week, as this allows younger readers to feel a sense of accomplishment while they build fluency. Because the program provides success in literacy, students often become more positive about their ability to read and may also improve their reading skills. Ideally, buddy visits will be ongoing, and older and younger students will become familiar with one another and nurture a mutual interest in reading.

Why Choose Tutoring?

Math tutoring provides a tailored learning experience that suits your individual needs and learning style. Whether you're looking to excel in a specific subject, prepare for standardized tests, or improve your study skills, I'm here to guide you every step of the way. With tutoring, you'll benefit from:

Personalized Attention: I will work closely with you to understand your strengths, areas for improvement, and learning preferences. This personalized approach ensures that every session is focused on your unique requirements.

Flexible Scheduling: Life can get busy, and that's why I offer flexible scheduling options. Whether you're a student with a packed schedule or an adult learner juggling multiple commitments, we can find a time that works for you.

Purpose Learning Lab is on a MISSION, and we believe you have what it takes to make an impact right from your dorm room. Our after-school enrichment center is located 2 minutes away from NCCU campus.

Call to Action: Male Homework Guide Volunteers Needed!

Our boys need more than just homework help—they need role models who show up, guide them, and cheer them on. At Purpose Learning Lab, we believe that positive male influence is powerful in shaping discipline, confidence, and determination in academics and beyond.

We are calling on fathers, uncles, brothers, coaches, and leaders in our community to step into this vital role. As a Male Homework Guide Volunteer, you will:

Provide one-on-one or small group homework support.

Model focus, persistence, and positive attitudes toward learning.

Help boys stay organized and accountable with daily assignments.

Encourage resilience, responsibility, and self-confidence.

Monday -Friday 2:00-6:00PM (Float anytime between)

You don’t need to be a teacher—just a consistent presence who cares.

Join us today and help build a culture where boys see men invested in their success. Together, we can ensure that every child has the academic and emotional support they deserve.

Volunteer: Male Mentors Needed

Call to Action: Male Mentors Needed!

At Purpose Learning Lab, we believe every young person deserves a positive role model who reflects strength, leadership, and compassion. Right now, our boys and young men are searching for guidance, wisdom, and encouragement that only dedicated mentors can provide.

We are calling on fathers, brothers, uncles, coaches, leaders, and community members to step up and mentor. Your time, presence, and life experience can shape futures, break cycles, and inspire the next generation to dream bigger and walk with purpose.

Teach life skills, leadership, and resilience through your example.

Give back to the community by investing in tomorrow’s leaders.

Show our youth that strong, positive male role models are here for them.

You don’t need perfection—just consistency, commitment, and care.

If you’re ready to make an impact, join us today. Together, we can build a legacy of empowered youth and thriving communities.

Volunteer: Mental Health Advocacy and Well-being-MHFA

The NCCU Counseling Center provides opportunities throughout the year to encourage our campus community to become advocates of mental health well-being. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is one of the ways students, faculty, and staff members can learn approaches to help others.

MHFA training provides effective ways to respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or emergency and connect them to appropriate resources. Attendees learn to recognize the signs of disruption that may occur for a specific problem or as an ongoing concern. Students can earn service hours by completing this training. The 2-hour self-paced module and pre-work must be completed before attending the remaining part of the training that is in-person (ILT).

Registration is open to current NCCU administrators, faulty, staff, and students, and community members. Registration is at a tiered cost. The following link is for registering for the course separate from adding the service opportunity once the training is completed, https://forms.gle/pti1YAQMdEk4V4Eb8.
