Volunteer: Briggs Ave Garden Volunteer

Volunteers may be planting seeds or plants, harvesting produce, spreading mulch, weeding, watering, organizing spaces, making friends, eating popsicles. You know regular gardening stuff! Please wear comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes wear a hat, and bring water, refills available on site.

 

Garden is open from the first weekend in March until the weekend before Thanksgiving in November. 

Available workday shifts for new volunteers:

Friday and Saturday each week

March through May 9am-12pm

June through August 8am-11am

September through the weekend before Thanksgiving 9am-12pm

Briggs Ave Community Garden is an agriculture education space owned by the North Carolina Agriculture Foundation at NCSU. We are an Extension program offering applied food and nutrition education with a seed to table approach. We teach families how to grow food for themselves and others using USDA Organic methods following food safety from the garden to the table. 30% of the food we grow is donated to Durham Technical Community College pantry.
