Who We Are

Community Engagement is a division of the Neighborhood Improvement Services Department looking to improve the quality of life for people who live, work and play in Durham neighborhoods.

What We Do

The Community Engagement Division strives to: Inform by providing residents and community organizations with information on programs and services. Engage by providing the community with avenues that allow them to get involved in civic activities. Partner with the community, by collaborating with residents, community organizations, and others to improve the quality of life for all residents.

Some examples of what we do: Work with residents in different PACs, informing them of new updates and changes during PAC meetings, Provide Mini Grants to residents to do community projects, Partner and collaborate with residents on various events and projects, and also supporting them by showing up at their events, canvassing and much more. We also host our own events that help engage the residents, train the residents, and help grow community capacity.
