Who We Are

Founded in 1999, AAERO, has conducted oral history interviews, given awards to college students and elders in memory of ancestors, given awards for outstanding teaching, and hosted students from NCCU and Fayetteville State University for internships and service learning.  In January 2022, the African American Education & Research Organization (AAERO) and Melchor-Quick Meeting House (MQMH) merged!  We will continue to use both names, although our new name is officially African American Education & Research Organization at Melchor-Quick Meeting House.   We have an Annual Symposium each summer, and online discussions of topics relevant to our mission.  August 11, 2024 was the 25th Anniversary of AAERO.

What We Do

Guided by our commitment to community well-being, the mission of AAERO at Melchor-Quick Meeting House is to enable Black people to have the means to learn and share education of all kinds throughout our lives.

We conduct research, educational programs and coaching to improve educational opportunities and equitable access of Black people to funding and learning experiences.  Internships for college students are offered each summer.
