The Media Center supports students and teachers throughout the building and our learning commons includes a large library, technology areas as well as provides a place for events and presentations.

We are a middle school in Durham Public Schools that serves young teens as they advance through grades 6,7,8. We work to engage our students in growing as students and future leaders through rigorous learning experiences and a growth mindset.  We are looking for NCCU volunteers to come and help us this school year as either regular volunteers or for special events.

Would you like to be a volunteer in the Githens Media Center library for Grades 6-8 Durham Public Schools? 
You may be surprised at the ways you can help and how much fun you can have doing it. The media center is open Mon-Friday 7:20am-2:20pm and volunteer opportunities are flexible and tailored to your schedule and areas of interest
The following is a list of some of the ways you may wish to volunteer your time in the library. 
*Shelving Books         *Cataloging Books       *Checking Out Books         *Preparing Class Materials for Literacy and Technology *Reading with small groups of students  *Collection Development  *Community Outreach
