Who We Are

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties (BGCDOC) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and protecting children while preserving the beauty and innocence of childhood. We aim to make a fundamental difference in the lives of all youth, but especially those who need guidance the most by providing a safe alternative for youth between the ages of 6 and 18. This important service that BGCDOC provides is not achieved alone. Only through a collaborative effort with local businesses, area charities, philanthropic groups and generous residents has BGCDOC formed a network of Champions for the most worthy cause of all; securing the futures of our children. Core Values 2018 Inclusion & Opportunity - We strive to offer children and youth from all economic, cultural, and social backgrounds access to resources and opportunities that will enable them to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential in life. Respect & Belonging - We provide a safe, supportive place, where every child is listened to, treated with respect, and valued in an environment of inclusion and acceptance. Our staff and volunteers model honesty, fair play, positive attitudes, cooperation, and respect for self and others. Empowerment - We believe all young people can grow into responsible, contributing, and self-reliant members of society. Through adventure, play, and discovery, we encourage and empower Club members to develop healthy lifestyles, a life-long passion for learning, leadership and life skills, and a sense of social responsibility. Collaboration - We work together with organizations and volunteers in each community, in partnership with businesses and local government entities, to create healthy community solutions for providing children and youth with what they need for optimal development. Advocacy- We speak out on behalf of children, youth, and their families to reduce disadvantage, enhance their lives, and enable their voices and ideas to be heard.
