Description

The 8th Annual Liberty Arts Iron Pour is almost here! Every November since 2016, Liberty Arts has hosted a FREE public arts event in Durham Central Park. Over 3,000 attendees gather to watch teams of artists build furnaces which heat pieces of iron to unfathomable temperatures. All evening and into the night, thousands of pounds of molten iron will be poured into molds in an exciting fiery display, creating iron tiles designed by the public and sculptures made by NC artists. The event will feature performances, local food trucks, craft beer, art vendors, and opportunities to learn from and engage with this spectacular art form.

During the Iron Pour, we will have a Live Painting activity led by artist Kirk Denny. We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate this activity by engaging the event attendees, as well as helping with set up and clean up. If you are an artist or don't mind getting a bit messy with paint, please sign up for this volunteer opportunity! Please wear closed toed shoes and clothes you are ok with getting paint on! We will also provide a volunteer shirt.
