Planning Ahead is seeking student volunteers to support Ready Together, a free, in-person community workshop designed to help Durham residents prepare for extreme heat, flooding, and power outages. Extreme weather events are becoming more common, and this workshop equips community members with practical, low-cost tools to stay safe and resilient.

Volunteers will play a key role in ensuring the event runs smoothly and that participants feel welcomed, supported, and engaged throughout the workshop.

Volunteer Responsibilities May Include

  • Event setup and breakdown

  • Registration and participant check-in

  • Distributing materials and resilience toolkits

  • Supporting hands-on community mapping activities

  • Assisting facilitators as needed

  • General hospitality and community support

Who Should Volunteer
