Goal:
To eradicate inequalities systemically instituted by race, and to reinvest in Durham’s underserved communities enabling the reclamation of a proud indigenous heritage.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Support students, faculty and staff at NCCU researching and addressing racial equity along with community revitalization.
- Learn about local history, facilitate interviews & conduct surveys with campus students & local residents.
- Attend and report on community engagement opportunities (e.g., City Council Meetings; Local Commissions & Task Forces).
- Design and organize activities, projects and initiatives (e.g., “Gun Violence Roundtable”, “Voter Education") to engage students and residents in underserved communities.
- Research and create content for DCABPI website (e.g., TRAILBLAZER series; BLOG).
- Create content for social media channels (e.g., Videos) to enable students & community residents with a platform to communicate ideas to improve underserved communities.
- Develop websites and portals for local non-profit organizations that allow access to information and available resources.
- Launch prototype IT solutions (e.g., web applications with database & search engine) that address real-world issues impacting communities.
- Participate with a student-led "Think Tank" designed to serve as a platform for research, advocacy, and policy development to address pressing social, economic, and political issues impacting Black communities and the broader society.
- Be part of a research population of students that evaluates and support the well-being of students attending HBCUs.
