Triangle Cultural Awareness Foundation, the 501 (c) 3 nonprofit of Spectacular Magazine, is presenting the 20th Annual NC MLK Black History Month Parade on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 on Fayetteville Street. Volunteers are needed to assist.
Volunteers will be assigned to corners on Fayetteville Street that are not handled by Durham Police officers. These would be streets with very low traffic. They will place the barricades that will have been left earlier in the street to block traffic. If a vehicle approaches they will instruct them to turn around (Or park and watch the parade!). Their main objective is to make sure no vehicles enter Fayetteville Street. When the parade is over they will place barricades back where they were.
Volunteers are needed fourteen locations, and will work in pairs.
Volunteers would report to W.G. Pearson Elementary (3501 Fayetteville St.) at 11 am to get their assigned street corner. They will go to their assigned street by 11:30 so Parade can start promptly at 12 noon. Volunteers will have a sign-in sheet at the W.G. Pearson. A supervisor will go along the route to ensure volunteers are in their assigned locations.
Volunteers will receive 5 Community Service hours. Volunteers should report to Jordan Davis.
