Purpose:
To give an extensive exposure to concepts of human genetics and medical genomics as well as explaining the availability of numerous career pathways and internships at UNC Chapel.
Title: Genomics-in-a-Day: Careers from the bench to the bedside
Date & Time: Saturday, March 23, 2024, 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Mary Townes Science Building at NCCU
Students will be involved in the following aspects:
a) Setting up audio video / smart class set up in several rooms
b) Photography and video recording as needed
c) Helping the visiting team of experts from UNC Chapel to set up working lunch tables
d) Co-ordinating in five different rooms for parallel sessions
e) Receiving them and seating
f) Parking and other related help
g) Moderating sessions
h) other miscellaneous work
Genomics Workshop Plan
Background/Purpose
As a result of PARADIGM/ClinGen student engagement and outreach efforts with NCCU, an invitation was extended to host a Genomics workshop on NCCU’s campus.
The goals of the workshop are to:
1) introduce the NCCU undergrads to applications of genetics & genomics
2) increase students’ awareness about potential careers in the field
3) highlight opportunities for internships and further training at UNC.
